How can I get Hemorrhoids? How can I tell if I have them?

How can I get Hemorrhoids? How can I tell if I have them?
Hemorrhoids can be either internal or external and in today’s society, there are approximately 10 million people who suffer from hemorrhoids and many don’t even know that they have hemorrhoids! Studies are now indicating that due to our fast changing lifestyles, HALF of the population will suffer from hemorrhoids at least once by the age of fifty!

We understand that this is a very sensitive subject about your body. But hey, nobody likes it when something is wrong “back there”. Sometimes it’s due to:

• Pregnancy
• Hereditary factors
• Constipation/hard stool
• Chronic diarrhea.

But pregnancy, hereditary factors, and constipation are not the only way you can get hemorrhoids. Here are some additional ways:

• Participating in a serious kind of sport dealing with heavy weights/lifting
• Sedentary lifestyle
• IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
• Practicing anal sex
• Alcoholism or drinking to many alcoholic drinks
• Doing daily heavy lifting and holding your breath while you do it
• Eating excessive processed foods, which are low in fiber and move slowly through the colon
• Holding fecal matter too long in the rectum causing pressure to buildup in the rectum veins postponing a bowel movement
• Not eating foods that keep you constipation free such as fiber, vegetables, essential fatty acids, protein, and water.
• Using laxatives to the point where your colon no longer works properly
• Not getting the right vitamins and minerals in your food
• Sitting in a chair at home, at work, in a car, or in a truck for long periods
• Having a weak liver, which reduces the amount of bile released into the intestines (Bile helps to activate peristaltic action).

And because the rectum is not an area you can readily see, sometimes you don’t even know you have hemorrhoids until:

• You see blood in the toilet water after a bowel movement
• You find blood on the toilet tissue
• When you start having pain sitting or during a bowel movement
• Discomfort (burning and itching) outside the rectum
• Soft bulging area around the rectum or anus that gives you a sensation that “something’s there”
